About Christine Lucas!

Hi, I’m Christine and welcome to my blog!

This site has seen some changes over the past few years since I have been blogging. From the early days when I wrote about the visiting garden birds to my yarden (back yard/garden) in Liverpool, to the now more adventurous wild swimming and long country walks.

If you are interested in wild swimming, perhaps you could follow my new YouTube channel solely for wild swimming?

Since 2015, I have participated in the Wildlife Trusts’ 30 Days Wild and blogged about all things nature. From growing plants, fruit and vegetables to identifying the numerous bees, butterflies and moths I come across. I shall hopefully be participating again this year!

In 2017 I signed up for the challenge, #walk1000miles, organised by Country Walking magazine.  I thoroughly enjoyed getting out more each day. The community on their Facebook page is very supportive. In 2018 I signed up again and surpassed my previous mileage! A lazy day for me now has to have at least a two mile walk (preferably a dog walk – with Riley incorporated!) In 2019 I aimed to walk 2000 miles but missed the mark by just 21 miles! In 2020, during a global pandemic I managed to walk almost 1,500 miles. I’ve not signed up for 2021 but have incorporated walking into my everyday life. It keeps me fit, toned and ultimately helps keep the black dog at bay! I have never been happier! Could you walk #walk1000miles? If so sign up here.

You will find that I occasionally post videos from my main YouTube page, showing clips of interests such as visiting birds and animals to my yarden.

I also write about the many vegan/vegetarian recipes I try and also reviews on holidays and visits to UK zoos, as well as short passages of creative writing and poetry when I feel inspired!

I thank you for taking the time to stop by, and I look forward to you joining in the conversations on what I blog about. If you like what you see then do follow or if you like you can follow me on Facebook. I have a page solely for this blog.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Christine x

If you’d like to support my adventures do buy me a coffee at Ko-fi, every penny helps. Thanks x https://ko-fi.com/wildswimmingwithchristine

  3. Fascinated by your wild swimming! Watched a lady immerse herself in the deep water channel of the Ribble at St Annes today as the tide was going out. Spied her through binoculars and worried when I couldn’t see her! Just paddling freaks me out! By chance caught up with her after her swim and had an engaging chat. Wish I was brave enough to give it a go!

    • Thanks for your comment. A few years ago I would have thought the same but I just took a deep breath and decided I was going to do it! It’s more mind over matter! It’s been difficult for me to get to the Lakes or Snowdonia since the virus but hopefully will be back swimming soon. Give it a go, even if it’s just a paddle, you may enjoy it, but be safe 🙂
