Waking the dog:
I’ve been meaning to share with you all, the most recent walks we’ve had with Riley. David and I have taken Riley to a picnic at Festival Gardens, walked around Calderstones Park and got muddy at Sefton Park! š
Walk 1000 miles:Ā
I’ve done it! I’m a Proclaimer! I reached 500 miles today on Formby Beach with David and Riley! This week my mileage has been 30 miles. My annual total to date is 502 miles!
Classic FM: Hall of Fame:
Classic FM Hall of Fame 2018
Easter weekend was all about the Classic FM, Hall of Fame. The Lark Ascending by Vaughn Williams was deposed by the explosive Tchaikovsky’s,Ā 1812 Overture. The result was quite a shocker! The pieces of music I voted for reached:
1.Ā Massenet’s Thais’ Meditation reached: 150, down 2.
2. Elgar’s Enigma Variations reached: 5, down 1.
3. Rachmaninov’s, 2nd Symphony reached 35: down 6.
Baking:
David’s cake
This weekend, David has been busy making a cake. He used 10 eggs in total. He took over half an hour making Swiss Meringue Buttercream. The result was a very rich chocolate sponge cake with buttercream and white chocolate ganache.

This Clitheroe based, family run business produces bespoke wall and floor tiles and have recently decided to create products from their waste materials.
They create mugs and jewelry. When I saw their ceramic bee broaches I just had to have one!
Yarden:
And finally, I spent some time in the yarden this Sunday, planting Maris Peer chits and scattering wildflower seeds. I’ll end this post with some pictures of the yarden. With the arrival of British Summer Time, the plants have all begun to wake up. Here’s pictures of the spectacular rhododendron and delicate magnolia which have recently flowered. What plants are awakening in your gardens?

Lovely post. Congrats again on becoming a proclaimer! Might take me another month to become one. Small world ~ I know the couple from Tile Productions. I met Lisa through doing craft fairs a few years ago. They make some lovely stuff. I went for a hot choc with her last wknd. David’s cake looks awesome. X

I was thinking of you when I found out Tile Productions were in Clitheroe. David’s cake was lovely. š Very rich! I hit my 500 last year end of May, so you are doing great. I’m just pushing for more miles this year! š xx

I need to stop looking at cakes…..and eating them. I am definitely putting on weight. š¦ I cannot resist a cake! Hopefully get some more big walks in this coming weekend. š x

Wow 500 miles in only a quarter of the year (ish) – that’s fantastic! The cake looks pretty good. We bought a mixer today, hoping to be more inspired to bake when we finally move into our house! By the way, I searched the photo an hour hashtag on twitter and it seems the next day is 28th April.

Thanks Louise. I was at 500 miles end of May last year! So a month+ is a bonus for me. š David is the cake baker I can’t stand baking! Good luck with yours! Thanks for the warning of photo an hour, I’ll try and plan something more interesting than cleaning windows lol xx š

Congratulations on the 500, at this rate you will be able to do 2000 miles. Love the brooch. As for the classic fm list, people just like the big bangs of the 1812.
